5 Senior Club wins (Vets won on forfeit) from 6 appearances resulted in a few happy faces around the Club on Saturday night. Our 4ths and 5ths have a bye this Saturday because of the Spring Racing Carnival so it will only be our top 3 teams playing. But a quick summary of games just completed is as follows:
ONES: Were in the box seat after day 1 and the result was pretty much as anticipated, although again we failed somewhat to press the advantage home. At one stage Kerrimuir were 8/76 but they managed to put up some resistence before being all out for 164. Adam Hunt again was our bowling wizard getting 4/33 from 17 overs. The New Buntsman got 3/25 and special mention to Brandon, who kept the screws tightened and returned 2/19 off his 10 overs. We have the Superkings away next game and a few of our up and comers will be absent and having a wager. But we have a Twos team who are firing at the moment so the competition for spots will be keen.
TWOS: Same story here with a win pretty much hoped for and a pleasing result in the end. Kerrimuir were in all sorts early and were 5/43 after 20 overs. They finished all out 121 and the Main Man again was Big Dog with figures of 4/20 off 16 overs. But I must say it is totally unacceptable for the Captain to only summarise his scorebook with one entry. Bowler No7 bowled 0.1 overs for no runs and 1 wicket. Nothing else entered for anyother bowlers. . Surely this will be the subject of a hefty fine this Thursday night ???
THREES; Came up short chasing 179 but nearly pinched the points. Were 5/100 and looking good but a few wickets tumbled at the wrong time for us and we finished 30 runs shy.New boy Mick McMahon certainly made an impression with the bat as well, top scoring with 41. Lachie Harding and Jordy Wright both got 30s but thats about it for our batsmen. Next week hopefully as this team starts to settle down a bit more.
FOURS; Played Heatherdale and always good to get one up on the Feathers. We had a very strong team on the field and got them all out for 121. New Boy Chris Broad got 2/8 and Jack Riddle only got 2/13 and Gizza got smacked around but still finished with 2/37. And an up and comer in Rickers bowled 8 overs for a return of 1/9. We then batted and finished 5/126 off 24 overs, with Scott Taylor making 49. The Vassis/Riddle Cup was won by Luke this week with a score of 35, while Jack could only find 25. This team will get stronger in coming rounds so competition for spots will be tight.
FIFTHS. Had a good win from their split innings game after being in control for most of the game. They got their opposition out for 132 and the main bowlers were 2 up and coming kids. Cooper Taylor got 2/13 off 12 overs and Lachy Reidy got 2/26. We ended up being 8/260 from our 64 overs. Couple of old blokes did ok with the bat, Roger Berryman getting 78 and Aaron Smith 55. Next best was some young stars. Cooper Taylor (52NO and watch out for this boy) and Jonno Mummery (knocked up 32 after getting a ton in the morning - again another boy to watch closely). This is exactly why we love this Father/Son concept and it might be some time yet before Boof can fight his way back into this lineup. Well captained I heard.
